Dolores Ann Davis of 1318 Springlawn Court, Raleigh, departed this life on Thursday, April 10, 2014.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Lea Funeral Home, 2500 Poole Road in Raleigh.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, prior to the funeral service.
She will be interred in Raleigh Memorial Park, and after which, a Reception will be held at Joy of Discovery.
Mrs. Davis' favorite color was purple. In her memory, family and friends are kindly requested to wear something purple to the funeral services.
Elizabeth Hockaday Brooks (affectionately known as “Belle”, Liz, Gigi, Mama Brooks and Minister Brooks), died early Wednesday morning, April 16, 2014.
She was born on August 5, 1927 to Earnest and Francis King Hockaday in Wake County, North Carolina.
She married the late Eugene Brooks, and to this union of 61 years nine children were born. She leaves to cherish her memory six children; Billy Brooks and his wife Jona Faye in Wendell, Betty Richardson and her husband Paul, Carolyn Winters and her husband Joseph, Jr., and Michael Brooks and his wife Faye, all in Raleigh, Mary Brooks Green in Atlanta and Esley Eugene Brooks in Youngsville; three sisters, Ozzie Oneal in Oxford, North Carolina, Katherine Percell in Raleigh, Tessie Robinson (Sheram) in Wilmington; two brothers, Percy Hockaday in Youngsville and Wilbert Hockaday and his wife Pat in Raleigh; two sisters-in-law, Annie Brooks in Wake Forest and Flonia Brooks in Louisburg; brother-in-law Melvin Jones in Knightdale; 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Also cherishing her memory are a dear, devoted and supportive friend, John Fowlkes, Sr., and good friends Valerie Wesson Watford and Greta Hicks.
